The flagship of the Pacific Fleet (Pacific Fleet), the Varyag Guards missile cruiser and the Marshal Shaposhnikov frigate, returned to the main base of the Pacific Fleet in Vladivostok July 3 after completing the exercise in the Pacific Ocean, the press service of the fleet reported on Monday.

“For more than a month, the crews of warships carried out their tasks in the designated areas of the Sea of Japan and the Sea of Okhotsk, as well as in the far ocean zone. The arrival in Vladivostok was preceded by several thousand nautical miles, which the crews overcame, performing the main combat training tasks as part of the fleet’s operational exercise,” the report said.

On the eve of returning to Vladivostok, the ships crossed the La Perouse Strait from Okhotsk to the Sea of Japan.

The crews of the ships worked out air defense and anti-submarine defense, took part in a dozen private exercises and joint trainings. Tasks at sea were carried out in conditions as close as possible to combat, the military said.
