On board the ARC frigate ‘Almirante Padilla’ at the facilities of the ARC Bolívar Naval Base, the signing of the co-development contract for the contractual design between the Science and Technology Corporation for the Naval, Maritime and Fluvial Industry (COTECMAR) and the DAMEN shipyard of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
To take on this challenge, COTECMAR has been steadily preparing itself in its technical, technological, scientific and knowledge skills, which have allowed it to promote the country’s technological and industrial independence.
The design of this Strategic Surface Platform-PES, becomes a milestone for Colombian naval engineering, as well as a great technological leap at the service of the country, being the first ship of this class designed according to the requirements to support the strategic capacity of surface of the National Navy. The contractual design is expected to be ready within 9 months.
The protocol signing ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Colombia, Ernst Noorman; Vice Admiral Juan Ricardo Rozo Obregón, Second Commander of the Colombian Navy; Rear Admiral Luis Fernando Márquez Velosa, President of COTECMAR and Mr. Olivier Van Papenrecht, Sales Manager for the Americas of DAMEN Shipyards Group.
COTECMAR will continue to carry out projects with a high technological impact that allow Colombia to be a benchmark for the naval and shipyard industry in the world.
