On a historic day for the Spanish Navy, the submarine ‘Isaac Peral’, the first of the S-80 series, has started its first national voyage from its base, the Cartagena Arsenal. A cruise full of expectation that is an important milestone in the Navy’s commitment to innovation and development in advanced technologies.
On March 8, under the command of Lieutenant-Commander Manuel Corral Iranzo, and with a 54-strong crew, the ‘Isaac Peral’, started a new phase of a continuous and rigorous program of trials and training aimed at reinforcing its operational capabilities. The S-81 is one of the most advanced submarines in the world thanks to its state-of-the-art technology which allows it to operate both in blue waters and in coastal waters.
After a comprehensive period of tests and trials, the S-81 was launched in May 2021 and delivered to the Spanish Navy on November 30, 2023. With the incorporation of this submarine into the national fleet, Spain strengthens its operational capabilities at sea, as well as the defense and stability in future challenges.
