“At present, the newest SSBN (strategic missile submarine) of the Borey-A project, Generalissimo Suvorov, is at the final stage of preparation for the transition to the Pacific Fleet,” the press service of the Russian Northern Fleet said on Thursday.
“Generalissimo Suvorov” became part of the Russian Navy in December 2022. On January 19, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that the submarine had made the transition to the Northern Fleet.
“In the Northern Fleet, the crew of the submarine cruiser will undergo a cycle of combat training and pass the necessary course tasks. After completing the training course, the ship will go to its permanent base in the Pacific Fleet,” the Russian Defense Ministry reported on January 19.
“Generalissimo Suvorov” was built at “Sevmash” (Severodvinsk) according to the modernized project “Borey-A”. The ship belongs to the fourth generation of nuclear submarines. According to the website of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the main weapon of the submarine is the Bulava intercontinental ballistic missiles.
According to the website of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the Generalissimo Suvorov is equipped with modern missile and torpedo weapons, radio-technical, hydroacoustic weapons and navigation systems. The submarine is distinguished by low noise and low acoustic visibility.
