As part of the implementation of the Algerian Russian military cooperation program for the year 2026, the detachment of the Russian North Sea Fleet, consisting of the frigate “Admiral Kasatonov” and the medium fuel tanker “Akademik Pashin”, docked today (June 22nd, 2026) in the port of Oran, in a four-day stopover.

During this stopover, the Commander of the Mission and his accompanying delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Commander of the Western Seafront/N.G2, where the talks discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and enhance the exchange of experiences between the Algerian and Russian navies.

In this context, mutual visits will be organized between the Algerian naval forces and the staff of the Russian detachment, which will allow for the exchange of knowledge and experiences in the maritime field, and the stopover program includes the organization of cultural and sports activities for the benefit of the crew members of the Russian detachment.

This visit is an opportunity to exchange experiences and enhance cooperation between the navies of the two countries.
