The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) commemorated its 58th Anniversary June 14th with a Parade Ceremony held at the RBN Parade Square led by Lieutenant Commander Pg Putera Muhammad Amir Osman bin Pg Metussin, RBN.

Present as guest of honour was Captain Haji Mohamad Sarif Pudin bin Matserudin,RBN Acting Commander RBN where he gave a speech commemorating the RBN’s 58th Anniversary. In his speech, he highlighted the achievements of the RBN that included capability development, defence diplomacy, and training. He further emphasized the importance of cooperation and cohesion to ensure a balanced momentum of development across all major departments of the RBN.

The ceremony continued with the presentation of awards and certificates to RBN officers and sailors for their achievements and professionalism in their careers. The RBN Command Badge was awarded to Lieutenant Commander Mohamad Husaini bin Haji Mohd Sofian,RBN, Lieutenant Commander Mohamad Shahrul Idham bin Haji Bungsu, RBN, and Lieutenant Nur Mazarina binti Marzlan,RBN. This was followed with the presentation of the Principal Warfare Officer badge to Lieutenant Commander Shamshu Nuzli Wazri bin Haji Tujuddin,RBN, Lieutenant Commander Nazurah binti Mahaleh,RBN, and Lieutenant Commander Abdul Azim bin Haji Abdul Rahman,RBN. The Commanding Officer’s Certificate was awarded to Commander Pg Md Faren bin Pg Mohd Noor,RBN, Lieutenant Commander Ade Roddiane bin Haji Mohd Rosdi,RBN, Lieutenant Commander Haji Mohammad Arnold bin Haji Osman,RBN, Lieutenant Commander Pg Haji Khairul Anwar bin Pg Dr. Haji Abu Bakar,RBN, Lieutenant Commander Nazurah binti Mahaleh,RBN as well as the officers who were just presented their command badge. The RBN Officer of the Watch Certificate was awarded to Lieutenant Junior Grade Wan Syamimi Alya’a Filzah binti Zulkiflee,RBN, Lieutenant Junior Grade Haji Abdul Wadud bin DP Haji Mohd Yussop,RBN, Lieutenant Junior Grade Mohd Mirza bin Abdullah,RBN, Lieutenant Junior Grade Dk Rabiatul Muthiah binti Pg Haji Ismail,RBN, and Lieutenant Junior Grade Haji Mohd Farhan bin Haji Samsol,RBN. Coxswains Warrant Officer 2 Jaafar bin Mohd Zulkipli,RBN, Warrant Officer 2 Fadhillah bin Mohamed Yassin,RBN, and Chief Petty Officer Norafendy Syuaib bin Rusli,RBN were awarded the Landing Craft Coxswain’s certificate.

Other awards highlighting further professional achievements were also presented, including the Rules of the Road Masters Award presented to Lieutenant Mohammad Syafiee bin Othman,RBN, the Sauh Emas Award to Warrant Officer 2 Mohammad Izam bin Haji Othman,RBN, the Bintang Harapan award to Leading Hand Amir bin Julai,RBN, the Best Engineer (Officer) award to Lieutenant Eddy Sahrany bin Emran,RBN, and the Best Engineer (Non-Commissioned Officer) to Chief Petty Officer Md Amir Shahrin bin Haji Karia,RBN. Awards highlighting fitness prowess were also presented to Lieutenant Ak Faizul Azmizan bin Pg Haji Rajali,RBN and Lieutenant Junior Grade Dk Rabiatul Muthiah binti Pg Haji Ismail,RBN for the Officers’ Category, while Petty Officer Nicholas bin Kamis,RBN for the male Non-Commissioned Officers’ Category, and Leading Hand Nurul Hazimah binti Hamzah,RBN and Ordinary Rate Dina Effa Marlina binti Metassan,RBN were awarded for the female Non-Commissioned Officers’ Category.

The event was further blessed with a Doa Selamat recited by Ustaz Muhammad Sabqi bin Nasar, RBN Religious Officer, a group photo on the RBN Parade Square, the officiation of the RBN’s official Instagram account, and a celebration of the 58th Anniversary at each of RBN’s messes.

A series of events had been conducted in conjunction with RBN’s 58th Anniversary, such as a Tahlil event at the Royal Brunei Mausoleum, a Khatam Al-Qur’an ceremony, and a Doa Kesyukuran. More events will be held to commemorate the 58th Anniversary, including Mess Dinners in all the messes of the RBN, cleaning campaigns at Muslim cemeteries, donations to former members of the RBN, donations of children’s toys, Motivational Talks, deployment of RBN ships to Kuala Belait, and a RBN Family Day.
