The Navy held a Navy Sea GHOST development conference on September 8th at KAIST Moonji Campus in Daejeon, jointly with KAIST, the National Institute of Defense Sciences (ADD), and the Ship and Marine Industry Research Institute (KRISO).
The conference, themed ‘AI Transformation Era, Navy Sea GHOST’s New Leap’, saw over 400 officials from the military, academia, and government attending to discuss cooperation plans to advance the development of the maritime unmanned system and enhance its combat capabilities.
Admiral Kim Kyung-ryul, the Chief of the Naval Staff, said in his speech, “The Navy is gradually developing the Navy Sea GHOST, an AI-based unmanned complex combat system, to prepare for the highest level of readiness, and is strengthening research and exchange cooperation and research activities with domestic and foreign research institutions to apply advanced science and technology, including artificial intelligence, across all mission areas.” He said, “We will further accelerate the Navy Sea GHOST based on the content discussed at this conference and strengthen efforts to transform the Republic of Korea’s Navy into a smart elite navy based on AI and advanced science and technology.”
