Navy ships began tracking the freighters Ursa Major and Sparta IV and the oil tanker Yaz March 15.
The Navy, through the Maritime Operations Center, ensures permanent surveillance of areas under national sovereignty or jurisdiction, having monitored three more ships of the Russian Federation, known for allegedly transporting material used in the Russian war effort.
Serving Portugal at sea 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, the Navy will continue to monitor and accompany the passage of ships with a view to international and allied security and the promotion and protection of Portugal’s interests in and through the sea.
