One of the Navy’s flagship ships produced by PT PAL Indonesia has again become the center of attention, previously KRI dr. Radjiman Wedyodiningrat-992 who was appointed to carry out humanitarian duties to Egypt, now it is the turn of KRI dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo-991 to be entrusted with a special role in the Operational Preparedness Exercise (LKO) Koarmada III FY 2024 in Sorong Waters, Southwest Papua on Wednesday (06/03/24).

Reporting from tni.mil.id the exercise is part of the Navy’s efforts to ensure the readiness of troops in facing various emergency situations at sea. Some of the main focuses of the exercise were Search And Rescue (SAR) training, how to handle the health of drowning victims at sea, injured and deceased victims involving existing elements and medical personnel and facilities in accordance with the detailed exercise plan.

Operational preparedness in dealing with any situation is one of the top priorities of the Indonesian Navy. This proactive step covers various aspects, including the readiness of a fleet of ships that have various facilities and technologies as well as those contained in the KRI dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo-991 ship made by PT PAL Indonesia.

“Indonesia is the largest archipelagic country in the world, its people are spread from Sabang to Merauke plus Indonesia’s geographical position is prone to tsunamis, earthquakes, volcanic mountains that can erupt at any time, and the potential for sea transportation accidents. So we believe the presence of more hospital auxiliary ships is needed to support humanitarian operations,” said Edi Rianto as Corporate Secretary.

In addition to the KRI dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo-991 Hospital Auxiliary ship, several ships belonging to the Indonesian Navy involved in the exercise include 2 (two) Fast Patrol Boats KRI Layaran-854 and KRI Sura-802 1 (one) State Patrol Ship (KNP 379) 1 (one) KN SAR Baladewa, 2 (two) Tugboats (TD Umsini) and (TD Irau) 1 (one) Police Ship (KP Polairud) Sorong, 1 (one) Combat Boat Lantamal XIV Sorong, 1 (one) G7 Lantamal XIV Sorong and 1 (one) Pesud Patmar Puspenerbal CN 235.

The success of KRI dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo-991 in the Operational Preparedness Exercise (LKO) scenario is proof of the reliability of products made by PT PAL Indonesia which have advanced technology and meet safety regulation standards so that they become the main choice in strengthening Indonesia’s sea defense.
