- In response to illegal maritime activities, including the ‘ship take’ by North Korean-flagged vessels banned by UN Security Council resolutions, Italy dispatched the multi-purpose combat ship Giovanni Dele Bande Nere, and from late August to mid-September, conducted a warning and surveillance mission by warships in waters around Japan, marking the third time since 2024.
- From our perspective, we welcome these efforts from the perspective of the international community’s united efforts to ensure the effectiveness of UN Security Council resolutions toward the realization of all weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missiles of all ranges by North Korea in a complete, verifiable, and irreversible manner.
- The Ministry of Defense and the Self-Defense Forces are also collecting information on ships suspected of violating UN Security Council resolutions within the Maritime Self-Defense Force, and will work closely with relevant countries, including Italy, as well as relevant international organizations.
