Placed in direct support of Operation AGÉNOR, FLF Guepratte actively participated in the surveillance of maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz as well as in the protection of French interests in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. The Guepratte contributed to the assessment of the situation in the region and to ensuring freedom of maritime navigation on a major trade route, by carrying out a dozen surveillance missions in the Strait of Hormuz.
Operational cooperation and exchanges of know-how have also been carried out with the navies of the France’s regional partners, whether the Qatari armed forces, or with the European navies contributing to AGÉNOR, such as joint training with the Italian offshore multipurpose patrol vessel Thaon di Revel.
FLF Guepratte has also been integrated into Combined Task Force (CTF) 150, a multinational task force fighting illicit trafficking in the region. In this context, on December 27, 2022, the crew intercepted a dhow carrying nearly 500 kg of heroin and nearly 4 tons of cannabis.
These drugs, whose total value is estimated at €50 million, have thus been removed from the criminal and terrorist networks that destabilize the region.
