From Thursday 13 to Friday 28 April 2023, the Armed Forces participated in the Exercise named “ITALIAN MINEX 23” organized by the Italian Navy, and held in the wider region of the Central Mediterranean with the participation of Naval Units of the Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group Two (SNMCMG2), Belgium, France, USA, Italy and the Netherlands.
“ITALIAN MINEX 2023” is of type INVITEX-LIVEX-MAREX (Invitation to an Exercise – Live – Maritime Exercise), during which objects of anti-mine operations were carried out under asymmetric threat in mined waters and entrances of main ports.
The participation of the Armed Forces in “ITALIAN MINEX 23” is part of the wider planning of the HNDGS regarding the international cooperation of the Armed Forces, which consistently support and highlight Greece’s stabilizing role in the wider region, and contributed to the promotion of the level of operational readiness and combat capability, as well as to the strengthening of synergy and interoperability of participants in an inter-allied framework.
The Armed Forces participated in the Minehunter Exercise EUROPE as a member of SNMCMG2. During the event, complex business scenarios were implemented, as follows:
- Miscellaneous Exercise (MISCEX).
- Synthesis and exchange of recognized surface image and air defense.
- Mine Countermeasure (MCM).
- CBRN incident response (Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defense – CBRN).
- Addressing asymmetric threats.
- Dealing with drifting mines.
- Medical Exercise (MEDEX).
