JSC Admiralty Shipyards (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation, USC) plans to launch the Project 636.3 diesel-electric submarine Mozhaisk, which is being built for the Pacific Fleet, in the spring of 2023, the press service of the shipyard said on Wednesday.

“Currently, shipyard workers are carrying out outfitting work on the Mozhaisk submarine. The launch of the ship is scheduled for the spring of 2023,” the report says.

Earlier it was reported that on Wednesday the diesel-electric submarine of project 636.3 “Ufa”, built for the Pacific Fleet (Pacific Fleet), became part of the Russian Navy.

The Project 636.3 Ufa submarine is the fourth in a series of six ships being built at the Admiralty Shipyards for the Pacific Fleet. It has already included submarines Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Volkhov, Magadan. The fifth and sixth submarines of the series – Mozhaysk and Yakutsk – were laid down at the enterprise in August 2021.

At present, hydraulic tests of all block modules of the ship have been completed on the Yakutsk submarine, specialists are carrying out electrical plumbing work and insulating the hull, the press service of the shipbuilding enterprise reports.

The contract for the construction of this series of submarines was signed in September 2016. By 2024, the Russian Navy plans to receive the entire series of six diesel-electric submarines of project 636.3, which are being built at the Admiralty Shipyards, purposefully to equip the submarine forces of the Pacific Fleet.

Submarines of project 636.3 are equipped with Caliber cruise missiles (developed by OKB Novator, JSC Concern VKO Almaz-Antey).

According to open data, the tactical and technical characteristics of Project 636.3 submarines are: cruising autonomy – 45 days, maximum diving depth – 300 meters, diving range at economical speed – 400 miles, cruising range in RDP mode (engine operation under water, – “IF” ) with an enhanced fuel supply at a speed of 7 knots – 7,500 miles, the number of torpedo tubes – 6. Underwater speed – 18 knots. Crew – 52 people.
