A total of 1,119 packages of drugs were seized by members of the National Aeronaval Service (SENAN), in two operations carried out in the last 24 hours, in the Pacific area of the country, all this within the framework of “Operation Beta” developed by the security forces nationwide.
The first action against drug trafficking was registered south of Mensabé in the province of Los Santos, resulting in the seizure of 20 sacks containing 500 packages of drugs that were inside a speedboat manned by three men, in addition a rifle-type firearm with unexploded ammunition was confiscated.
The second operation was carried out south of San Carlos, province of Panama Oeste, through maritime patrol tasks our units interrupt the movement of a boat manned by three subjects, which upon noticing the presence of our units undertake their escape, generating evasive maneuvers. After securing the boat and its crew, it is possible to observe inside a certain amount of sacks of alleged drugs.
In coordination with the Drug Prosecutor’s Office of Panama West, the alleged crime, the boat and apprehended were transferred to the Naval Base Captain Noel A. RodrĂguez (former Rodman), for the pertinent proceedings, accounting for 23 sacks containing 619 packages of illicit substance to be determined.
So far in 2023, the National Aeronaval Service, through the execution of 89 effective operations against drug trafficking, has achieved the seizure of 43,550 packages of illicit substances.
