U.S. Carrier Plane Landing Training (FCLP) is conducted prior to the resumption of operations after the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan makes a port call in Yokosuka for a period of time, and is necessary for pilots to acquire qualifications to land on the aircraft carrier. It’s essential training. The implementation of this exercise is of great significance as it strengthens the deterrence and response capabilities of the United States in the region based on the Japan-U.S. Mutual Cooperation and Security Treaty.
2. Overview of landing training
・Training period: May 9 (Tue)-May 19 (Fri) 11:00-03:00 ・
Training aircraft: Aircraft carrier Ronald Reagan All fixed-wing aircraft F/A-18E, F/A -18F, EA-18G, E-2D, C-2A)
3. If the required training on Iwo Jima cannot be conducted due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, the training will be conducted at some or all of the airports listed below.
Misawa Airfield May 13 (Sat) – May 19 (Fri) 10:00 – 22:00
Yokota Airfield May 13 (Sat) – May 19 (Fri) 10:00 – 22:00 Atsugi
Airfield May 13 (Sat) – May 19 (Fri) 10:00 – 22:00
Iwakuni Airfield May 13 (Sat) – May 19 (Fri) 10:00 – 22:00
