Following its official sundown this summer, the C-2A Greyhound returns to the spotlight Sept. 26 when the Patuxent River Naval Air Museum and the E-2/C-2 Airborne Command & Control Systems Program Office (PMA-231) host “Meet the Aircraft: C-2A Greyhound,” a public event honoring the aircraft’s decades-long legacy of sustaining carrier operations and supporting fleet readiness.
The event will give visitors an opportunity to tour the aircraft, talk with experts and learn how the C-2A Greyhound supported naval aviation by transporting passengers, mail and high-priority cargo to aircraft carriers at sea.
Throughout its service life, the aircraft served as a vital link between shore and sea, helping keep carrier strike groups supplied, connected and mission ready. As the Navy closes this chapter in the aircraft’s history, the event also will recognize the aviators, air crew, maintainers and support personnel whose work sustained the C-2A’s operational contribution across decades of service. Through this community event, the museum aims to connect the public with the history of naval aviation and highlight the role aircraft such as the C-2A Greyhound played in supporting operations at sea.
PMA-231 managed the C-2A Greyhound throughout its lifecycle. The program office will continue to deliver and sustain world-class E-2D Advanced Hawkeye and E-2C Hawkeye aircraft. By combining technical expertise with strategic sustainment, this workforce provides the U.S. Navy with premier airborne early warning, command and control, and logistics support for a more decisive and ready fleet.
