The incorporation of modern technologies into the Argentine Navy’s aircraft continues to strengthen the capabilities of surveillance, reconnaissance, and control of maritime spaces of national interest, within the framework of the process of modernization of the means destined to the monitoring and protection of the maritime interests of the Nation.

One of the most significant advances materialized with the incorporation of a WESCAM MX-10 multispectral electro-optical system to a Beechcraft B-200M “Cormorant” aircraft of the Naval Aviation Command. The equipment, received through bilateral cooperation programs with the United States, brings new exploration, surveillance, reconnaissance and command and control capabilities to naval air operations.

The WESCAM MX-10 has electro-optical and infrared sensors capable of operating both day and night and in various weather conditions. These capabilities make it possible to improve maritime surveillance, search and rescue, contact identification and support for maritime interdiction operations, providing real-time information for operational decision-making.

The B-200 “Cormorant” aircraft are a fundamental tool for the control of maritime spaces, support for naval operations and search and rescue tasks, playing a key role in the surveillance of Argentine jurisdictional waters.

In this way, the Argentine Navy continues to advance in the integration of systems and technologies that enhance the performance of its naval air assets, strengthening the surveillance and control of maritime spaces under national authority and consolidating its contribution to the defense of the country’s strategic interests.

During the activities conducted on the commemoration of the Bicentennial of the Naval Combat of Los Pozos, one of the B-200 “Cormorant” aircraft equipped with this state-of-the-art system could be observed, which significantly increases the capacity to obtain information and monitor areas of interest.
