We are pleased to announce that land-based integration testing of U.S.-made equipment for the first Aegis-equipped ship began in the United States in September 2025.
This test will ensure that the U.S.-made equipment will function properly when installed on the first Aegis-equipped ship, by linking the SPY-7 and the Aegis weapon system together and confirming that the Aegis weapon system’s processing, including search, detection, identification, and tracking of actual targets, is performed properly.
Similar onshore integration tests are planned for the second ship’s U.S.-made equipment in the future. After testing, each piece of U.S.-made equipment will be shipped to Japan and installed on the hull currently under construction at the shipyard.
