ARC Gloria Made First Visit to Providencia Island

August 6, 2021 – For the first time in its 53-year history, the ARC “Gloria” Training Ship arrived in Providencia, where it was anchored in the internal bay from August 2 to 4 of this year; within the framework of the Cadet training cruise of the “Almirante Padilla” Naval Cadet School.

Colombia’s floating ambassador to the seas, arrived after visiting different ports, including countries such as Honduras, Mexico, the United States and the capital of the Archipelago department, San Andrés.

During its stay in Providencia, the flagship of the Colombian Navy received more than 982 visitors; mainly children, young people and adolescents from the different educational establishments on this island and Santa Catalina, who were transported to the ARC “Gloria” aboard Coast Guard Units and in the Amphibious Landing Ship ARC “Golfo de Urabá”, a unit of Outstanding area within the framework of the “Renacer” Plan.

Likewise, the ARC “Gloria” School Ship was visited by different civil, military, ecclesiastical and police authorities, who have been present on the islands carrying out the Unified State Action during its reconstruction process after the devastating passage of Hurricane Iota.

The Colombian Navy, through the ARC “Gloria” ship, will continue visiting different ports so that locals and foreigners can learn about its decks, its history and feel the pride of visiting it.
