Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien received Senior Colonel Kim Myong Chol, Defense Attaché of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) to Vietnam, on August 17.
At the reception, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien confirmed that the Party, Government and the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense always treasures the traditional friendship between Vietnam and the DPRK. He said that the comprehensive cooperation between the two parties and states is the premise and foundation for the two sides to develop the bilateral defense cooperation in a more extensive and effective manner.
Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien highlighted the positive development of the bilateral defense ties despite impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, saying that its role as a pillar in the relations between Vietnam and the DPRK has been promoted in various fields such as exchange, training, and Party and political work, etc.
Speaking highly of Senior Colonel Kim Myong Chol’s utmost efforts in bolstering the cooperation between the two militaries over the past time, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien hoped that Senior Colonel Kim Myong Chol will continue to make active contribution to strengthening the relationship between the two countries in general and the two militaries in particular in the coming time. He suggested the enhancement of all-level delegation exchange, effective implementation of contents of the signed agreements, sharing of experience in Party and political work, expansion of cooperation in training, culture and arts, military sports, exchange of young officers, and military medicine, etc.
For his part, Senior Colonel Kim Myong Chol thanked the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense for its attention to and support for developing the bilateral defense ties. He affirmed that in his position, he would try his best to continue promoting the realization of cooperation contents signed by the two sides, thus enhancing the bilateral defense cooperation.
