HMS Queen Elizabeth Makes First Visit to Canada

September 12, 2019 – The UK’s new aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth arrives in Halifax, Nova Scotia, this morning in an historic first visit. May 15, 2019 – HMS Northumberland has escorted a Russian destroyer through the English Channel. The Devonport-based Type 23 frigate was activated to meet the Severmorsk, a Udaloy-class guided missile destroyer. The Russian ship passed through the English Channel on the way back to her home port after operations in the Mediterranean. To the sounds of the Morpeth Pipe Band, the Guard of Honor from HMS Northumberland marched on to the temporary Parade Ground at Whitehill Point Jetty in the Port of Tyne to mark the ship’s return to the Fleet in a rededication service.
