Now, Naval Exercise will begin in the autumn of 2025 in the Stockholm archipelago and nearby water areas. The exercise aims to develop our ability for joint underwater and surface combat operations, in order to ensure control and freedom of movement in the Baltic Sea region.
During Navy Exercise Autumn 2025, the Navy’s units will exercise together with other branches of defense, authorities and nations.
– The exercise aims to develop our ability for joint underwater and surface combat operations, in order to ensure control over and free movement in the Baltic Sea region, says Commander Fabian Tamm, acting commander of the Fourth Naval Combat Flotilla and head of the exercise.
The exercise includes, among other things, submarine hunting, air defense, electronic warfare and naval munitions clearance.
– The Navy must ensure that maritime transport can continue to arrive in peace, crisis and war. This applies to everything from traditional exports and imports, to military transports to, for example, the Baltic States or Finland in the event of a Russian attack on these countries. During Naval Exercise Autumn 2025, we will practice, among other things, keeping ports and shipping lanes open and protected, says Commander Fabian Tamm.
Large national and international participation
Naval Exercise Autumn 2025 is one of the largest exercises of the year. A total of 20 corvettes, minesweepers, patrol boats and training, staff and support ships, EOD groups, area search platoons, telewar battalion, staff and support units, coastal robot division, naval base battalion and fighter aircraft are participating. Participating units are the Stockholm Amphibious Regiment, the Third and Fourth Naval Combat Flotillas, the Naval Base, Blekinge Air Flotilla, the Defence Materiel Administration T&E, the Volunteer Air Corps and the Coast Guard. Units from the Finnish and British navies are also participating.
– The task of controlling the Baltic Sea region requires close cooperation with our allies. That is why warships and military units from Finland and the United Kingdom are participating in Naval Exercise Autumn 2025, says Commander Fabian Tamm.
