The navy conducted the inauguration ceremony of the new frigate Cheonan (FFG-826) at Jinhae military port on the afternoon of May 19th.
Cheonan ship began construction June 17, 2020, honoring two ships of the previous name, one of them sunk by North Korea. Launching occurred November 9, 2021.
Cheonanham is a 2800t-class ship and can mount one naval operation aircraft at a top speed of 30 notes (55km/h). They are equipped with weapons such as fleet hydro missile, long-range large fish, and judo missile defense, etc.
Cheonan Ship will be deployed to the West Sea at the end of this year after it has been electrified and operational performance evaluation.
