The solemn ceremony of the first hoisting of the Naval Flag on the oceanographic research vessel “Evgeny Gorigledzhan” took place at the Yantar plant (part of USC) on August 30, 2023.

The honorary participants of the ceremony were the Commander of the Baltic Fleet, Vice Admiral Vladimir Vorobyov, the Head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Vice Admiral Vladimir Grishechkin, the Head of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Kaliningrad Region, Lieutenant General Pavel Gulyaev, the Deputy General Director of USC JSC for Production Activities Sergey Lyashenko, the Minister of Economic Development, Industry and Trade of the Kaliningrad Region Veronika Lesikova, the General Director of JSC CMKB “Almaz” (part of USC) Konstantin Golubev, rector of the Cathedral of St. George Naval Cathedral of the Baltic Fleet, Archimandrite Sophrony.

After the announcement of the order of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy on the enrollment of the vessel in the Navy, the commander of the vessel carried the flag in front of the ship’s personnel and the flag was raised.

The head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Vice Admiral Vladimir Grishechkin, thanked the staff of the plant for the work done and noted the special contribution to the creation of the vessel of Yantar PSZ JSC and Almaz Central Design Bureau JSC: “Designers, engineers, workers, crew members have proven their professionalism and high qualifications in practice. The vessel bears the name of the outstanding Soviet and Russian design engineer, chief designer of nuclear submarines Yevgeny Alekseevich Gorigledzhan. I am sure that a vessel with the name of such an honored person will only multiply the glory and power of Russia in the oceans.

Veronika Lesikova, Minister of Economic Development, Industry and Trade of the Kaliningrad Region, noted: “Each order made at the Yantar plant is of great importance for our region. This is an indicator of the stability of the shipbuilding industry and customer confidence in one of the oldest Kaliningrad enterprises. I thank the staff of the Baltic Shipyard for their conscientious work and high level of professionalism.”

Ilya Samarin, General Director of Yantar Shipyard JSC, emphasized: “The oceanographic research vessel Evgeny Gorigledzhan was made according to a special project, in the creation of which many organizations and enterprises took part. Together, we gave the vessel a second life with a fundamentally new purpose. Now it is one of the symbols of the unity of the shipbuilders of the Yantar and our valiant Navy. I thank the entire staff of the Yantar plant and all our partners for their hard work and responsibility. The crew is seven feet under the keel and happy sailing, and the ship has many years of service!

According to tradition, the rite of consecration of the OIC “Evgeny Gorigledzhan”, as well as the blessing of the ship’s crew, was performed by the rector of the Cathedral of St. George Naval Cathedral of the Baltic Fleet, Archimandrite Sophrony.

In addition, during the event, the best employees of the Yantar plant, who made a significant labor contribution to the re-equipment and testing of the vessel, were awarded.

The oceanographic research vessel “Evgeny Gorigledzhan” is named after the general designer of nuclear submarines at the Central Design Bureau of MT “Rubin” (part of USC) Yevgeny Alekseevich Gorigledzhan. The OIC project was developed at the Almaz Central Marine Design Bureau (part of USC). The vessel is intended for research oceanographic work, environmental monitoring of the oceans, as well as participation in search and rescue operations.
