PT PAL Indonesia received a “Very Satisfactory” rating from the Philippine Navy for the successful completion of the BRP Tarlac (LD-601) Docking, Drydocking, Operational Readiness and Repair (DDORR) project.
The assessment was given based on the results of a post-project evaluation involving various user units and end-users of the ship. From this evaluation, PT PAL obtained a score of 3.90 out of a scale of 4.00 which is included in the “very Satisfactory” category.
BRP Tarlac is a strategic landing ship owned by the Philippine Navy built by PT PAL Indonesia and handed over in 2016. The ship undergoes a maintenance and repair program at PT PAL Surabaya’s shipyard facility in mid-2025.
Commander, Naval Shipyard Philippine Navy, CAPT Julius Preyes PN (GSC), said that all work was successfully completed on schedule by meeting the required technical specifications and operational standards.
“Based on the completed post-implementation feedback evaluation and performance survey conducted by the concerned offices and end-users, the overall performance of your company was assessed to be Very Satisfactory,” Julius Preyes wrote in an official letter to PT PAL Indonesia.
In addition to assessing the quality of technical work, the Philippine Navy also appreciated the professionalism of PT PAL’s personnel, the effectiveness of project management, the implementation of quality assurance, and compliance with work safety procedures during the implementation of the project.
“The project was completed within the prescribed schedule and in accordance with the required technical specifications and operational standards. Your personnel also demonstrated professionalism, technical competence, responsiveness, and adherence to safety procedures throughout the project,” continued Julius Preyes.
The results of the evaluation also show an increase in BRP Tarlac’s operational readiness after completing the DDORR program. The ship is considered to have a better level of reliability to support various operations, from troop transport and logistics, military operations, to humanitarian assistance and disaster management missions.
President Director of PT PAL Indonesia, Kaharuddin Djenod, said that the appreciation from the Philippine Navy is proof of the ability of the Indonesian maritime defense industry to provide comprehensive warship lifecycle support.
“The success of the BRP Tarlac project shows that PT PAL is not only able to build warships but also ensures that ships remain in the best operational condition through reliable and international standard maintenance, repair, and overhaul services. The trust of the Philippine Navy is proof that the quality of PT PAL’s human resources, shipyard facilities, and project management system is able to meet the needs of international users,” said Kaharuddin.
According to him, the success of the project further strengthens PT PAL’s position as a strategic shipyard in the Southeast Asian region that can support the maintenance and sustainment needs of warships of friendly countries.
The recognition from the Philippine Navy also reflects increasing international confidence in the ability of the Indonesian maritime industry to support the operational readiness of the naval fleet in the region.
