The Philippine Fleet welcomed His Majesty’s Australian Ship (HMAS) Sydney (DDG 42) of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) during its arrival at Rivera Wharf in Subic Bay for a goodwill visit from April 26 to 29, 2025.

The Australian counterparts were accorded arrival honors and formally received by a Philippine Navy contingent led by Cdr Raymond Roldan, Executive Officer of BRP Davao del Sur (LD602).

Integral part of the visit was the courtesy call of DDG42’S commanding officer, Cdr Ben Weller, to the Fleet Commander, Rear Adm Joe Anthony Orbe, during which they discussed enhancing maritime collaboration and improving interoperability through future joint exercises.
The visit also featured Subject Matter Expert Exchanges (SMEEs) aboard HMAS Sydney, Philippine Navy personnel participated in specialized discussions on Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW), rotary flight operations, and communications—key areas vital to modern naval operations.

Further strengthening regional maritime cooperation, HMAS Sydney participated alongside other allied nations in the 9th Multilateral Maritime Cooperative Activity (MCA) held in the West Philippine Sea, following its goodwill visit.

The visit highlights the shared commitment of both navies to strengthening maritime cooperation, enhancing operational interoperability, and reaffirming their dedication to regional security and stability.
