Dutch Defense is purchasing modular armament to strengthen the air defense and firepower of the navy. This involves surface-to-air missiles, long-range precision ammunition and equipment for electronic warfare. Israel Aerospace Industries is supplying the systems. It is the only manufacturer that meets the requirements and is able to supply the equipment in the short term. State Secretary Gijs Tuinman reports this to the House today.

The modern weapon systems and equipment are necessary for operations in the highest spectrum of violence.

The new armament can be transported in containers. This allows the modular systems to be placed on multiple ships of the navy. Think of the future multifunctional support vessels, the Landing Platform Docks, the Combat Support Ship and the Joint Support Ship.

The manufacturer expects to deliver the items from early 2027.

The modular armament falls under the Multifunctional Support Vessels project. It involves an amount of €250 million to €1 billion.
