NRP Joao Roby celebrates 48 years serving Portugal March 18.
The Joao Roby corvette, last of Andrade’s Baptist class, for almost half a century has ensured the defense and sovereignty of the Portuguese State at sea, through search and rescue missions, patrol and surveillance in the maritime space under national jurisdiction.
In the past year this unit has carried out maritime search and rescue missions in the Madeira maritime area and in the Exclusive Economic Zone of the continent totaling a total of 10068 nautical miles traveled and 179 mission days, contributing to permanent surveillance at sea.
