After patrolling the Faroe Islands, an archipelago between Scotland and Iceland, the Jeanne d’Arc group, composed of amphibious helicopter carrier Mistral and frigate Surcouf, continued their transit to Norway.

On 12 June, joint training was conducted with the Royal Norwegian Navy’s Nansen-class frigate Thor Heyerdahl.

This exercise, focused on interoperability between allied navies, allowed the French and Norwegian ships to train in various manoeuvres: tactical evolutions, data links, approach maneuvers and replenishment at sea.

Beyond the technical nature of the sequence, it embodies the concrete cooperation between France and Norway in the maritime field. It contributes to strengthening the strategic links between the two navies, while consolidating common know-how.

This exercise demonstrates the high level of shared commitment to security and stability in the strategic area of the North Atlantic.
