The Secretariat of the Navy, through the Mexican Navy acting as Coast Guard, reports that in recent days, naval personnel seized a boat with 55 packages containing white powder with characteristics similar to cocaine, weighing approximately two tons, near Barra Tonalá, Chiapas.
This action was carried out as a result of the development of an operation, which through intelligence information, detected and tracked two suspicious small vessels, so, with the objective of maintaining the rule of law at sea, a maritime, land and air deployment was carried out, which resulted in the seizure of said vessels with alleged narcotics.
The seized items were then loaded onto a Mexican Navy ship to be taken to land and made available to the competent ministerial authorities and to be included in the corresponding investigation file.
It should be noted that the potential economic impact resulting from this seizure amounts to approximately 25 million dollars, thereby weakening the financial structure of criminal groups.
It is worth noting that, during the current administration, during the development of maritime operations, more than 26 tons of suspected cocaine, approximately 34 vessels, a low-profile vessel (semi-submersible), almost 80 engines, approximately 60 thousand liters of fuel and nearly 150 people placed at the disposal have been seized.
In this way, the Navy, through the Mexican Navy, works to inhibit criminal activity by means of maritime, aerial and land surveillance operations in order to guarantee and maintain the rule of law at sea.
