In the waters of the Pacific Ocean, personnel of the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), through the Mexican Navy acting as the Coast Guard, in two different actions, arrested eight alleged lawbreakers and secured a smaller vessel with two outboard motors, as well as approximately 1.2 tons of alleged cocaine hydrochloride. in the vicinity of the beaches of San José el Hueyate, in the state of Chiapas.
In a first action, derived from patrol, maritime and aerial surveillance tours carried out by naval personnel, four alleged violators of the law were arrested, as well as 29 packages with 860 packages with an approximate weight (including packaging) of 860 kilos of alleged cocaine hydrochloride.
In a second action, personnel of the Mexican Navy detected a boat with two outboard motors and four crew members on board, so when carrying out an inspection, 13 packages with 384 packages with an approximate weight (including packaging) of 384 kilos of alleged drugs were located.
It should be noted that, in both cases, the competent authorities have yet to determine the ministerial weight of the seized drug, which will be added to the nearly 74 tons of cocaine seized in maritime operations carried out by personnel of the Secretariat of the Navy during the current administration.
Meanwhile, in coordination with elements of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) and the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), the detainees were informed of their rights under the law and, together with what was secured, they were placed at the disposal of the agent of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, who will define their legal situation and integrate the corresponding investigation folders.
These seizures represent an economic impact of approximately 263,250,000 pesos, which weakens the financial and operational structure of criminal groups.
With these assurances, approximately two million 400 thousand doses were prevented from reaching the population.
These actions are part of the permanent maritime, air and land surveillance operations carried out by the Secretariat of the Navy through the Mexican Navy to inhibit illicit activities in national waters, weaken the operational capabilities of criminal groups and strengthen the rule of law in Mexican marine areas.
