The Head of Regional Finance (Kakuwil) of the Regional Command of the Indonesian Navy (Kodaeral) V Marine Colonel (S) Arso Bawono, S.E., M.Tr.Opsla., representing the Commander of the V Regional Command of the Indonesian Navy Admiral Ali Triswanto, S.E., M.Si., attended the Release of the 2026 Sovereign Rupiah Expedition (ERB) in the East Java Province Working Area organized by Bank Indonesia at Madura Pier, Koarmada II, Ujung Surabaya, Thursday (6/8/2026).
The release of the Sovereign Rupiah Expedition is a form of synergy between Bank Indonesia and the Indonesian Navy in supporting the distribution of circulating rupiah banknotes to the frontier, outermost, and remote (3T) regions.
The Sovereign Rupiah Expedition is part of the state’s efforts to ensure that people in the archipelago have access to circulating rupiah money, while strengthening economic sovereignty and emphasizing the state’s presence to remote parts of the archipelago. In addition to distributing money suitable for circulation, this activity is also a means of educating the public about the importance of loving, proud, and understanding the Rupiah as a symbol of national sovereignty.
In his remarks by Asops Kasal Admiral TNI Yayan Sofiyan, which was read by the Head of the Second Fleet Command, Admiral TNI Agam Endrasmoro, it was conveyed that the geographical condition of Indonesia as the largest archipelagic country in the world requires collaboration between institutions in providing services to the community. The synergy between Bank Indonesia and the Indonesian Navy is a tangible manifestation of our shared commitment to maintaining the country’s sovereignty, both in the defense and economic sectors, so that development can be felt evenly in border areas and remote islands.
In making the Sovereign Rupiah Expedition a success in the East Java Province area, the Indonesian Navy used the KRI Terapang-648, a ship that is one of the spearheads of the Indonesian Navy in carrying out the task of maintaining security in the work area of the Second Fleet and its surroundings. The expedition will take a shipping route from Surabaya – Sapudi Island – Tanjung Kiaok – Raas Island – and return to Surabaya with a total mileage of 525 Nm.
The involvement of the Indonesian Navy in the Sovereign Rupiah Expedition is the implementation of the duties of the Indonesian Navy in Non-War Military Operations (OMSP), especially supporting national strategic programs through the provision of safe and reliable sea transportation support. The presence of KRI Terapang-648 also reflects the readiness of the Indonesian Navy in supporting government policies to strengthen inter-island connectivity and equitable distribution of services to the community.
Through this activity, the Indonesian Navy affirms its commitment to continue to synergize with various ministries and institutions in supporting national development, strengthening the state’s presence in the archipelago, and maintaining the sovereignty of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia from the sea.
