The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) confirmed the following Chinese naval vessels on Thursday, December 15.


(1) Around 10:00 a.m. December 16th, in the sea area about 440 km west of Fukue Island (Nagasaki Prefecture), One Chinese Navy Kuznetsov-class aircraft carrier “Liaoning” (ship number “16”) advancing southward, Jiang
One Kai II-class frigate (ship number “542”), one Luyang III-class missile destroyer Ship (ship number “120”), one Renhai-class missile destroyer (ship number “103”) and one Fuyu-class high-speed combat support ship (ship number “901”) for a total of 5 ships


(2) Around 12:00 p.m., in the sea area about 420 km west of Fukue Island, while proceeding southeast in the same sea area.

After that, on the 16th (Friday), these 6 ships were sent between the main island of Okinawa and Miyakojima (Okinawa Prefecture).

It was confirmed that the ship had sailed southwards and sailed toward the Pacific Ocean. In addition, in the East China Sea, JMSDF confirmed the arrival and departure of the helicopter.

The Ministry of Defense and the Self-Defense Forces belong to the Maritime Self-Defense Force 8th Escort Corps “Kirisame” (Sasebo), 4th Aviation Group affiliation “P-1” (Atsugi) and 5th Air Group affiliation “P-3C” (Naha), the required conducted information gathering and surveillance.
