On the morning of July 29, frigate 015-Tran Hung Dao carrying a delegation from the Vietnam People’s Navy departed Manila port, successfully concluding a goodwill visit to the Philippines from July 26.

The farewell ceremony was presided over by Commander Albert Absalon, Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, under the Philippine Naval Defense Command. Also attending the event was Senior Colonel Luong Van Manh, Vietnamese Defense Attaché to the Philippines.

During the visit, the Vietnamese delegation and the chain-of-command of Frigate 015-Tran Hung Dao paid courtesy calls on leaders of the Fleet Training and Doctrines Center under the Philippine Fleet. The ship also welcomed Philippine Navy officers and sailors for an onboard tour, while personnel from both navies participated in sports and cultural exchange activities.

The Vietnamese delegation laid flowers at the President Ho Chi Minh Monument in the ASEAN Garden, located within the historic Intramuros district of Manila.

Before departing, Senior Captain Do Minh, Deputy Commander of Naval Region 4 and head of the Vietnamese delegation, expressed his appreciation for the warm hospitality and sincere friendship extended by the Philippine Navy throughout the visit in Manila.

For his part, Commander Albert Absalon welcomed the positive outcomes of the visit and exchange program and wished the Vietnam People’s Navy delegation a safe and smooth voyage home.
