On October 21, the Overseas Support and Assistance Building (BSAOM) Dumont d’Urville of the Armed Forces in the Antilles (FAA), supported by Dutch air assets, seized nearly 430 kg of cocaine on a “go fast” type boat, north of the island of Aruba.
The intervention of sailors from the BSAOM Dumont d’Urville revealed the presence of suspicious bundles on board the fast boat. Merchandise discovered tested positive in the cocaine reaction test.
The three crew members, the cargo and the fast craft were brought back to Fort-de-France by the Dumont d’Urville. 14 bales of cocaine were seized, for a total weight of nearly 430 kg. This 8th seizure of the year 2022 brings the FAA’s balance sheet to nearly 4 t of narcotics intercepted.
This operation, led by the admiral commanding the maritime zone of the Antilles, by delegation of the prefect of Martinique, delegate of the Government for the action of the State at sea, is the result of a close international and interministerial cooperation. It mobilized several intelligence services, the French armed forces, the Dutch coast guard, the anti-narcotics office (OFAST) and the Fort-de-France prosecutor’s office.
