In order to check the proper functioning of the catapults that were dismantled during the work and to proceed with their calibration, models of different masses are printed.
They reproduce the E2-C Hawkeye and the Rafale in different flight configurations. Once catapulted, the models are retrieved by tugs on the water and brought up to the flight deck with the help of a crane.
These tests also allow the flight deck personnel and the sailors in charge of the aviation installations to regain their automatisms, before catapulting aircraft again.
A total of 64 shots were fired at each of the two catapults.
