From 13 to 17 May 2024, the Brazilian patrol boat Bracui made a stopover at the new pontoon of the Degrad des Cannes naval base, before taking part in joint training with the Antilles Guyane patrol boat La Confiance.
This call is the first call by a foreign ship, less than a month after the inauguration of the new pontoon of the naval base, thus symbolizing the strategic importance of the naval base as a base in Latin America.
The Brazilian sailors took advantage of these few days to make an operational visit to the naval base, as well as a visit to the Guiana Space Center. Discussions with the civil and military authorities as well as the sharing of know-how with their French counterparts confirmed the relevance of the partnership between the French and Brazilian navies.
Finally, Bracui carried out joint navigation training with the Antilles Guyane La Confiance patrol boat in French waters, before continuing on to Suriname as part of its Caribex 2024 deployment.
