20% Production completed – Since the ship’s arrival, this work has progressed at pace and passing this point has accumulated in more than 220,000 Production hours reached.

CIC Foundation completed – With the Combat Information Centre dismantled, all new major foundations and equipment mounting points have been fitted. This paves the way for the new, cutting-edge technology to be installed.

The Destroyer Capability Enhancement program is future proofing HMAS Hobart with new state-of-the-art technology, integration of a Tomahawk cruise missile system and an upgraded Aegis combat system.

With a history constructing the Hobart class destroyers, two Arafura class offshore patrol vessels and (currently) the Hunter class frigates, the Osborne Naval Shipyard is also gaining new capabilities through the upgrade/sustainment program. These advancements reinforce the site’s reputation as one of the key locations for Australia’s Continuous Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Enterprise.
