On October 27, Reiwa 8, we confirmed that a total of four vessels—consisting of a Renhai-class missile destroyer and a Luyang III-class missile destroyer of the Chinese Navy, a Jiangkai II-class frigate, and a Chinese Coast Guard vessel—transited eastward through the Ōsumi Strait and proceeded toward the Pacific Ocean.
The Ministry of Defense and Japan Self-Defense Forces conducted surveillance, alert operations, and intelligence gathering using the “Shiranui” (Ōminato), affiliated with the 4th Escort Squadron of the Maritime Self-Defense Force; the “Takashima” (Sasebo), affiliated with the 3rd Mine Warfare Squadron; and the “P-1” (Atsugi), affiliated with the 4th Air Group.
