From August 6th to 9th, 2026, the Warnemünde naval base will once again open its gates to the public as part of Hanse Sail. Visitors will gain insights into the mission and daily life of the German Navy.

Commander Martin-Paul Rose, Commander of the Warnemünde Naval Base Command, emphasizes: “For many years, we have opened our gates together with Hanse Sail in August to spark enthusiasm. With our offerings, we want to promote dialogue and bring the Navy closer to the people.”

A maritime highlight will be the frigate “Brandenburg.” Commander Philipp Schuster says: “Hanse Sail stands for maritime flair, international encounters, and a very special atmosphere. Every year it’s impressive to see how the harbor fills up with traditional sailing ships from all over the world and how people of all generations come together. For my crew and me, it’s a special honor to participate in the 35th Hanse Sail as the flagship. We look forward to interacting with visitors and being able to offer insights into our work and life on board.”

The program is complemented by demonstrations of the “Patriot” air defense system, helicopter demonstrations by Naval Air Wing 5 with a simulated sea rescue, a hands-on activity from the Potsdam Driver Training Center, and activities for families. The Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW), the Federal Police, the Water Police, and the base fire brigade will also be present at the event.
