On Tuesday, June 23, 2026, training firing of guided missiles (JV) of the Hellenic Navy took place in the wider area of the southern Ionian Sea in the presence of the Chief of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff, General Dimitrios Houpis, the Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff, Vice Admiral Dimitrios-Eleftherios Katara, and the Chief of the Fleet, Vice Admiral Christos Sasiakos.
Ships of the Commands, Frigates, Fast Boats (DTS), Surveillance Ships (DPE) and Underwater Destruction (), Helicopters (Helicopters) of the Navy Air Force (DAN), as well as Air Force vehicles participated in these firings. A large number and multiplicity of guided missiles of the Navy were successfully tested, in complex and demanding scenarios with the final result of the sinking of the two targets.
This activity is part of the annual operational training program of the Units of the Fleet Headquarters, with the aim of evaluating, increasing the combat capability and operational readiness of the participants, as well as confirming the reliability of the weapons of the Navy.
