Last month, the frigate Niels Juel practiced detecting and combating flying objects in the waters around Sjællands Odde.
In the training area, several drones were launched into the air around the frigate. The crew was then tasked with detecting and combating the objects. These included both classic drones with four rotors and fixed-wing drones, which are more similar to a traditional airplane.
The crew fought off the drones with both the light and heavy weapons used for close-range defense by the frigate.
The frigate Niels Juel is one of the Danish Armed Forces’ largest and most powerful warships, built for air defense and surveillance, among other tasks. The ship has just returned from Greenland, where the frigate participated in the large Arctic exercise Arctic Light.
