SIMA Drydocks Submarine Chipana

The closure of the resistant hull is a fundamental milestone in the comprehensive repair and technological update of the BAP “CHIPANA” Submarine Unit, since it represents a phase change in this project. The work on the submarine is now focused on the approximation of the two cut sections, the alignment and the joining by means of special and controlled welding of the resistant hull, in addition to the visual tests of magnetic particles and radiographic plates at 100% of the welded joint.

These works are carried out in our Callao Operations Center, with the technical assistance of the German shipyard ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems TKMS, allowing us to incorporate new technologies and have highly trained personnel for the execution of these works that require high specialization.

The scheduled date to complete these works, including the tests, is the second week of March, ending with the inspection of the DNV-GL classification society.
