The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) vessel, BRP Gabriela Silang (OPV-8301) arrives at Port of Bitung, Manado, Indonesia for its five-day port visit, today, 27 November 2024.
The vessel was warmly welcomed by men and women of Indonesian Coast Guard (BAKAMLA RI) headed by the Deputy Operations and Exercise, Rear Admiral Andi Abdul Aziz.
“This visit symbolizes the deepening friendship and cooperation between our nations and reflects our commitment to maritime safety, security, and peaceful coexistence,” Deputy Commandant for Administration, Rear Admiral Edgar Ybañez PCG expressed in his remarks.
“A strengthened partnership between our two agencies is essential in safeguarding our shared maritime interests and promoting peace and stability in the region,” he added.
Furthermore, BAKAMLA RI Deputy Operations and Exercise, Rear Admiral Andi Abdul Aziz expressed the pride of Indonesia for being part of the endeavor because for the first time, they are conducting a coordinated patrol with the PCG. He also commended the excellent cooperation between the two countries.
Also present during the arrival ceremony were: Deputy Chief of Coast Guard Staff for International Affairs (CG-5), Commodore Algier Ricafrente PCG; Deputy Chief of Coast Guard Staff for Marine Environmental Protection (CG-9), Commodore May Marfil PCG; Deputy Chief of Coast Guard Staff for Operations (CG-3) Captain Dann August Cariño PCG; Commanding Officer of BRP Gabriela Silang (OPV-8301), Captain Lawrence Roque PCG; Philippine Consulate General in Manado, Vice Consul Nanfred Manalo; Head of Central Maritime Zone, First Admiral Teguh Prasetya; Philippine Liaison Officer, Commander Efren Ryan Fajardo PN; and other senior officers of PCG and BAKAMLA RI.
