The Secretariats of National Defense and the Navy inform the public that, on February 10 and 11, 2026, General Ricardo Trevilla Trejo, Secretary of National Defense and Admiral Raymundo Pedro Morales Ángeles, Secretary of the Navy of Mexico, attended the “Conference of Chiefs of Defense of the Western Hemisphere”, held in Washington, D.C., U.S.A., an event in which the Secretary of War of that country, Peter Brian Hegseth, participated with a welcome message. The organization was led by General John Daniel Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the U.S. Armed Forces.
In this multilateral forum, attended by Ministers and Chiefs of Defense from 35 nations of the Western Hemisphere, issues of common interest in regional security were addressed, with the purpose of strengthening cooperation and identifying common challenges and threats that affect the stability of the hemisphere.
Within the framework of this event, it was reaffirmed that the implementation of Mexico’s National Public Security Strategy 2024-2030 and the operational coordination with the U.S. Northern Command on the common border have proven to be effective and have made it possible to reduce the flow of drugs to the United States, as well as high-impact crimes in Mexico’s border states.
The Secretariats of National Defense and the Navy ratify their commitment to international cooperation to contribute to regional security, under the principles of reciprocity, shared and differentiated responsibility, mutual trust, as well as respect for decisions and sovereign territories.
