The Vietnam People’s Navy (VPN) Sailing Ship, 286 LE QUY DON was in Negara Brunei Darussalam for a three-day visit from 29 July to 1 August 2024.
This is her goodwill deployment around the region, and prior her arrival in Muara, she visited Surabaya, Republic of Indonesia before heading back to the Republic Socialist of Vietnam. The sailing vessel is commanded by Lieutenant Commander Doan Tu Nguyen Ngoc, the Head of Delegation onboard is Senior Captain Nguyen Dinh Giang, Deputy Director of the Naval Academy.
The visit featured a series of events including a tour of the LE QUY DON, offering an opportunity for RBN personnel to learn about the ship and its operations. A luncheon was hosted by Commander Mohd Faisal Ezam bin Hj Abas, Commandant Naval Training, fostering camaraderie and mutual respect.
As part of the goodwill activities, friendly sports interactions were conducted, promoting teamwork and friendly competition. Le Quy Don crew also had the chance to explore the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) Museum, gaining insights into Brunei’s military history and heritage.
The ship held a reception hosted by His Excellency Tran Anh Vu the Ambassador of Republic Socialist of Vietnam and Senior Captain Nguyen Dinh Giang during which Yang Mulia Captain Haji Mohamad Sarif Pudin bin Matserudin, the Acting Commander of RBN was present as the Guest of Honour.
This goodwill visit underscores the Royal Brunei Navy’s and the Vietnam People’s Navy’s commitment to enhancing maritime cooperation and fostering strong ties between their nations.
