After carrying out operational exercises in the Austral theater of operations, between October 25 and 28, the Flagship of the National Squadron, Frigate FF-19 Almirante Williams, together with the Frigate FF-18 Almirante Riveros, made an operational call in the bay of Puerto Montt.
During the day of Monday, October 27, the Flagship received on board local authorities, representatives of the Armed Forces, Order and Security, and special guests.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Squadron, Rear Admiral Daniel Muñoz, led the tour of the Unit, where he presented details about the National Squadron and the capabilities of the frigate Williams.

Later, at a press point, Rear Admiral Muñoz said: “We are very satisfied to operate in this maritime area, after an extensive period in the southern theater of operations, reaching Cape Horn. Navigating the Chiloé channels is part of our obligation and responsibility. We maintain constant oversight, it is a permanent role, and another purpose is to show the citizens and the region that the Navy plays an essential role at the service of all Chileans.”
Meanwhile, the Commander-in-Chief of the Fifth Naval Zone, Rear Admiral Jorge Toso, stressed the importance of this type of deployment in the south of the country: “It is very significant, since it gives us the opportunity to bring the Navy closer to all Chileans, particularly in this most isolated area. These vessels are highly versatile. This is a permanent task of making a presence throughout the country.”
