A group of Russian naval ships has arrived at the Chinese port of Qingdao on a visit, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported on Thursday.
“A group of the Russian Navy’s combat ships consisting of the latest corvettes Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhapov, Rezky and Gromky and the support vessel Pechenga has arrived at the port of Qingdao today, December 5,” the ministry said in a statement.
The Russian naval ships have arrived in China in their long-distance deployment on a visit that will last through December 9. The visit envisages scheduled meetings of the Russian naval group’s command staff with the military command of the Chinese naval base and mutual ship attendance, it said.
In addition, some cultural events have been scheduled for the crews of the Russian combat ships, in particular, sightseeing tours of Qingdao and sports competitions with Chinese naval sailors, it specified.
The visit by the Russian naval ships to China will serve as yet another practical step towards strengthening cooperation between the navies of both countries, the ministry stressed.
