The deployments, which will last a total of 5 months, will continue to contribute to NATO’s deterrence and defence capabilities.

The Navy will deploy the “Dédalo” Expeditionary Combat Group on up to three occasions in 2025 in Mediterranean waters to demonstrate Spain’s firm commitment to the Alliance’s Deterrence and Defense Policy.

The Group will be made up of all the vectors that make up a force for the projection of naval power on land: LHD and/or LPD type amphibious ships with a reinforced battalion-sized Marine Infantry force on board and a complete role 2 medical unit, F100 and FFG frigates, on-board fixed-wing aircraft, tactical transport helicopters and a combat supply ship.

These deployments will also serve to demonstrate the Navy’s ability to lead and project an expeditionary force at and from the sea and, where appropriate, integrate and interoperate with other units or groups from other countries in the Alliance.

Likewise, the “Dédalo” deployments will allow us to continue strengthening the image of the Armed Forces in the international context and highlighting the strategic relationship and close collaboration of the Navy with the National Defense Industry, since all the deployed units are of national construction and have a high percentage of Spanish technology in their equipment and systems.

The first two deployments will take place before the summer, while the third will begin in September.
