In response to media reports that domestically-made submarines “could turn into iron coffins,” the Ministry of National Defense stated today (23rd) that using indecent names to describe tanks, submarines and other weapons and equipment may have a negative impact on the morale and image of the national military. It calls on all walks of life to rationally discuss national defense and security issues and jointly support the national army’s military preparations for war.
The Ministry of National Defense emphasized that, as Minister Qiu Guozheng said, “Chinese-made submarines are a good thing.” Any unilateral remarks or confounding will only cause unnecessary waves. At present, the whole case has entered the judicial investigation stage. The Ministry of National Defense will cooperate with the investigation to clarify the case and continue to control the follow-up evaluation according to the planned nodes to achieve the goal as scheduled and with quality.
